With 30,000 active companies, Italy is the European country with the largest number of companies in the design sector, which offer employment to 61,000 workers and generate an added value of 2.5 billion euros. Milan is confirmed as the capital of design with 18% of added value and 14% of employees in Italy.
These are the main results of the “Design Economy 2022” report, presented today by the Symbola Foundation, Deloitte Private and Poli.design, with the support of Adi, Cuid, Comieco, Logotel, AlmaLaurea and the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation .
The aim of the research is to raise awareness of the value of design for the competitiveness of the national production system. 57% of design companies integrate aspects related to product durability into design, 43.4% to material reduction, 34% to recyclability and 31.4% to repairability.
Among the sectors, furniture, automotive, real estate and clothing drive the demand for eco-design in Italy.
