Asian stock markets firmer ahead of China data – yen stabilizes

Asian markets are trending higher intraday on Thursday in anticipation of fresh trade data from China. In Tokyo, the Nikkei index, which includes 225 stocks, rose by 0.5 percent to 38,392.10 points, while the broader Topix was 0.8 percent higher at 2,727.05 points. The Shanghai stock exchange gained 0.8 percent to 3,154.48 points. The index of major companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen rose 0.9 percent to 3,662.34 points.
