“Sport and Innovation Made in Italy”, the partnership between MAECI, Sport and Health and ICE begins

A partnership to promote Made in Italy in the world through Italian sport and innovation. In the morning at the Treaty Room of the Farnesina, the Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani opened the presentation of the project “Sport and Innovation Made in Italy”, an initiative that seals the start of a strategic partnership between MAECI, Sports and Health e ICE-Agencyin collaboration with Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP), the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL) and the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN).

The Foro Italico in Rome, between May and June, will host three important sporting events: the BNL Tennis Internationals of Italyi European Athletics ChampionshipsThe IP Swimming Internationals “Sette Colli Trophy”. Pivoting on the significant international visibility of the events, until September 2024, a structured promotion and communication campaign will be conducted with targeted initiatives, events and contents with the involvement of great champions.

Present were, among others, the presidents of the Italian Swimming Federation, Paolo BarelliItalian Tennis and Padel Federation, Angelo BinaghiItalian Athletics Federation, Stefano Mei, – who collaborate with Sport and Health on the project – the President of ICE Agency, Matteo Zoppasthe President of Sport and Health, Marco Mezzaroma, and the CEO of Sport and Health, Diego Nepi Molineris.
The Olympic Champion and multiple World Champion in swimming also participated, Gregorio Paltrinierithe Olympic Champion of the 4X100 relay, Lorenzo Pattathe Davis Cup captain, Filippo Volandri, and the world champion in athletics, Fiona May.

“With Ice and Sport and Health we have decided to make Federnuoto, Tennis and Athletics the protagonists to ensure that this diplomatic project can start from Rome to abroad. I thank the presidents of the interested federations and the champions who are here for their presence, who have won so much and honor our country with their sporting exploits. We are proud of you, you are the beautiful image of Italy. I also thank Ice, which is a crucial part of this initiative, and the military sports groups. We decided to work on sport and sport diplomacy – said Minister Tajani -. We have already done it with the Ryder Cup and Giro d’Italia, we have promoted hundreds of events related to sport in all our embassies and at Euro 2024 our embassy in Germany will promote new initiatives also aimed at fans, a point of promotion of the image of the our country in the world“.

Sports diplomacy offers great opportunities in the promotion and development of Made in Italy, allowing the latter to be included in the communication activities of sporting events – declared Zoppas — We organized the first business forums in the ‘sport economy’ sector, which today produces 24 billion euros in turnover, half a million employees and around 10 billion euros in exports. Being able to include Made in Italy in the promotion of these events becomes a very important vehicle for increasingly affirming the Made in Italy brand in the world“, he added.
