“Asstra Rail” is born, a consortium for the technological development of companies in the railway sector

by admin

The “Asstra Rail” consortium is born, a consortium for the development of synergies and common strategies to increase the efficiency and market presence of companies in the railway sector through the optimization of resources and the sharing of technologies and skills.

“There are excellences and margins for increasing production capacity to the advantage of quality for the end user and ASSTRA intends to accompany this growth process”, said Andrea Gibelli, president of ASSTRA, the national association of local public transport companies, at the opening of the conference dedicated to “The prospects of rail transport after the pandemic” held at EXPO Ferroviaria 2021 – 10th International exhibition for railway technologies, products and systems which was held at the Fiera Milano-Rho from 28 to 30 September.

«With“ ASSTRA Rail ”today we start with 10 companies, of which 6 in the interconnected sector and 4 isolated, but we are confident that the perimeter will expand rapidly, allowing a further important leap in quality to the sector. An interlocutor is born who systematizes skills, know-how and activities, which today our companies tend to deal with individually. “ASSTRA Rail” in fact responds to the always felt need to reach an adequate critical mass on the market, also through the establishment of a purchasing center and the development of professionalism, now possible thanks to ASSTRA which acts as a catalyst “added Massimo Nitti, president of the ASSTRA rail transport section.

«The strategic advantage for TPL lies here: we are more centered, more able to move
people, more competitive to empty cities while respecting the human and sustainable dimension
of common living. This is why we accept today the challenge of satisfying the growing demand
of those who consider the collective means of transport to be established as the rule and not the exception.
Otherwise the technological innovation and the habits that in the last century have pushed us to
each use their own vehicle will create the immediate advantage of having a reduction
of pollutants, but without improving the quality of life in large urban areas where
the OECD expects in 2050 more than 50% of the population of the Northern World will live and up
80% in the South ”, concluded Gibelli.
