The Council of Ministers revoked the concession for the Autostrada dei Parchi, namely the A24 and A25. It was the Toto group company that asked for the contract to be terminated early due to the impossibility of obtaining the necessary funds for the safety measures.
«The provision on the revocation of the concession of the Autostrada dei Parchi is historic and we are very satisfied – comments the Minister of Agricultural Policies and M5S Head of Delegation to the government Stefano Patuanelli leaving the CDM – Minister Orlando and I expressed great satisfaction during the meeting. The power between the concessionaires and the State is rebalanced ».
With a letter sent last May to the Ministries of Infrastructure and the Economy Strada dei Parchi (Sdp), the company controlled by the Toto family which has the concession for the A24 (Rome-L’Aquila-Teramo) and A25 (Torano- breaking latest news), asked the grantor to initiate the procedures for the withdrawal and early termination of the concession.
In the letter, the SDP quantifies the indemnity requested from the State for the early termination of the contract at 2.4 billion, as envisaged by the concession whose natural expiry is set at 2030. This indemnity is the sum of various items, including non-remuneration of investments , missed tariff increases, missed revenues until 2030 and more.
