MILANO – Turbulent Easter Eve for customers Bnlthe group’s bank Bnp Paribas. Many of them found themselves having multiple debits on their current accounts this morning, resulting in some cases seeing their own balance cleared if not negative. “This morning a technical-operational problem occurred which resulted in multiple debits on the current accounts of several bank customers – we read in a press release issued in the afternoon by the institute -. The bank has informed customers through its channels and apologizes for the inconvenience.” Initially the bank had announced, on the app for Italian customers, that the restoration of the correct balances would be carried out “in the current account with date 3 April”: but subsequently it announced that all multiple charges have already been reversed.

Bank sources had explained that the cause of the anomalies had been identified, and was due to a technical problem. The same bank then posted a notice on social channels to communicate the actual resolution of the problem, explaining that “the anomaly has been resolved and all charges have been cancelled”.

This morning a warning to customers appeared on the institute’s app: “You may encounter multiple charges on current account movements. We have identified the cause of the anomaly and are already working to restore the correct situation as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience”.

Asked by Republic, a spokesperson for the bank explained: “There was a technical problem which led to anomalous charges on the current accounts of some customers. The bank is solving the problem and has communicated the anomaly to customers through all channels, the bank has understood the nature of the problem and will restore everything as soon as possible. Anomalous charges will be reversed.”

At the moment there is no evidence of a possible cyber attack.
