Chevrolet Silverado: The New Competition for Full-Size Pickup Trucks

Chevrolet Confirms Arrival of Large Pickup Truck to Compete with Ford F-150 and RAM 1500

The much-anticipated arrival of the Chevrolet Silverado, a large pickup truck to compete with the Ford F-150 and RAM 1500, has been confirmed. The truck, known for its large engine and bulky equipment, is set to hit the market in 2024.

Chevrolet is showcasing the Silverado at the Cariló shopping center in Argentina, where it is displaying its current lineup of products. The Silverado competes in the full-size niche and aims to increase the brand’s presence in the North American product market.

The updated Silverado boasts improved comfort and both mechanical and electronic updates. Measuring 5.91 meters long, 2.06 meters wide, and 1.94 meters high, with a wheelbase of 3,745 mm, the truck offers a comfortable cabin, ample cargo space, and volumetric capacity.

The High Country, the most luxurious configuration of the Silverado, includes features such as a chrome grille, LED headlights, side steps, and an automatic opening box lid. In terms of safety equipment, the truck offers six airbags and several Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including features such as collision and cross-traffic alert with autonomous braking, lane-keeping, and adaptive cruise control.

The Silverado is equipped with a 5.3-liter V8 engine that delivers 360 HP and 530 Nm of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 4×4 traction system. The engine can optimize the activation of cylinders, running with 8 or 4 cylinders depending on power demand, to reduce fuel consumption.

Although prices and equipment versions are yet to be confirmed, Chevrolet officials have announced that they will be disclosed during the truck’s launch in mid-2024. Patricio Verdura, GM Marketing Manager, emphasized the brand’s commitment to compete in the full-size segment with products of proven quality, technology, and comfort.
