On December 9th, China Mobile’s centralized procurement project (equipment installation) for communications engineering construction services from 2022 to 2023 was officially launched for bidding. The scale of this project is astonishing. The total amount of the project (excluding tax) amounts to 26.6 billion, which is only smaller than the scale of the 5G main equipment bidding, and the competition caused is also very fierce.
The scale of this bidding is second only to 5G, and the total investment scale of China Mobile’s 5G bidding exceeds 50 billion, which will be completed in two years. The scale of the bidding for the construction of communications engineering services was 26.6 billion, which was completed in two years. In most provinces such as Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, and Inner Mongolia, the procurement for this period will start on January 1, 2022; the implementation of Heilongjiang, Anhui, Hunan, Chongqing, and Guizhou will start on January 1, 2023.
Unlike 5G base stations that have few vendors involved, there are many companies participating in this tender for the construction of communications engineering services, with a total of 69 tenders and 306 shares, of which only one tender in Guangdong Province is as high as 5 billion. The large number of participating manufacturers is mainly due to the low threshold of communication construction. The main purchases include core computer room equipment, transmission equipment (excluding one trunk), wireless main equipment (including antenna feeder) and power supply supporting equipment installation engineering construction services.
A number of companies have already revealed the amount of winning bids. The latest announcement of Runjian shares: pre-winning bids for more than 3 billion China Mobile bidding projects.
Yitong Century announced that it won the bid for China Mobile’s centralized procurement demand project for communications engineering construction services from 2022 to 2023, with a total project amount of 115 million yuan.
Zhongbei Communications may take the most amount. According to the announcement, the company participated in the bidding for the “China Mobile Centralized Procurement of Communications Engineering Construction Services (Transmission Pipeline) Project from 2022 to 2023”. The company won 65 bids in 19 provinces with a bid amount of 3.097 billion yuan.
Neither Huawei nor ZTE won the bid because they did not participate in the bid. This kind of communication engineering construction service is more of construction, which is not Huawei’s strong point.
