Comau, ComoNExt and Umana launch a manufacturing academy to solve the mismatch

by admin

Comau, ComoNExt and Umana come together to design a “Manufacturing Academy” which will start in mid-November. The new training project is aimed at graduates – even with a qualification diploma – and unemployed or unemployed graduates and has set itself the goal of bridging the mismatch between job supply and demand.

Ezio Fregnan, director of Comau Academy explains that thanks to its history and experience, “Comau is in a privileged position to contribute to the growth and updating of the skills of students, young people at the beginning of their careers and professionals. The Manufacturing Academy of Lomazzo was born with the ambition of becoming a training center of excellence for the industry of the future and its workforce ». ComoNExT General Manager Stefano Soliano adds that «today more than ever, digital transformation necessarily requires the integration of more traditional skills with those of Enterprise 4.0, for which an adequate and complete training offer does not yet exist. There is no real innovation without knowledge and skills ». For Giuseppe Venier, managing director of Umana, «companies are now asking for specific skills that combine high-profile technical skills and the typical capabilities of manufacturing production. However, schools or training or higher education institutions are unable to keep up with businesses and their needs. So here is the idea of creating this Academy ».

The first course for “Automated Systems Programmers 4.0” will start on November 15th and end on January 14th. It consists of 6 modules distributed in 8 weeks full time. In all it will be 240 hours, of which 120 in the classroom and 120 in the laboratory, which will take place at the ComoNExT headquarters in Lomazzo, in the province of Como. It is an experiential path, at the end of which the Comau Certificate will be issued to the participants.

The first module will focus on the role of the Programmer 4.0 and on soft skills 4.0, the second on the use and programming of industrial robots. The next part, divided into three modules, will instead enter into the heart of hard skills, in particular Python Programming, Fieldbus and PLC Programming. Finally, in the sixth and last module the students will integrate the practical part of the laboratory, and then carry out the final theoretical-practical exam.

In the ComoNExt headquarters, in addition to the Factory Demonstrator 4.0, a laboratory will be set up with 5 didactic islands e.DO. There will also be an educational island with Collaborative Robot Racer 5, four demonstration stations, both mechanical and electrical, and a MATE exoskeleton. If in the first phase the academy is aimed at unemployed or unemployed graduates or graduates and is free, then the project will also extend to employees or professionals looking for continuous professional development paths.
