Comau joins forces with Intrinsic (Alphabet) for a smart automation model

A partnership that looks overseas, to Silicon Valley, with the aim of developing a more democratic model of industrial automation and robotics, within the reach of sectors undergoing strong development. Comau, a Stellantis Group company with headquarters in Turin, becomes an innovation and automation partner for Intrinsic, headed by the Alphabet Group, parent company of the giant Google. The collaboration focuses on the development of an innovative software platform that guarantees simplified access for those sectors undergoing acceleration on the technological front.

Industrial collaboration represents a novelty in the world of automation, with the aim of making robots ever smarter and more intelligent, facilitating their programming and use. Comau is already using Intrinsic’s “Flowstate” software platform, a simplified programming interface based on artificial intelligence. The system developed with Intrinsic will represent a stimulus for the sector and will be able to favor the diffusion of industrial robotics, with a better cost-benefit ratio, helping the various industries to access easily implementable automation.

Pietro Gorlier, CEO of Comau

Comau, which turned fifty this year, has five innovation hubs, five digital hubs, 12 production plants with 3,700 people in 13 different countries. «In the future – underlines CEO Gorlier – we will continue to capitalize on the synergy with Intrinsic and our experience in the development of collaborative, mobile, wearable and safe solutions, pursuing the robotics strategy based on the use of software and Artificial Intelligence , indispensable in all industrial fields, especially in sectors that still have a low level of automation».

The push to accelerate an innovative and more democratic model of automation is at the basis of the collaboration between the two companies, as confirmed by Wendy Tan White, CEO of Intrinsic. «The collaboration with Comau has brought to our team numerous skills, knowledge and concrete use cases on which to focus our efforts. The development of Intrinsic Flowstate in particular – explained the CEO Tan White – was accelerated precisely by Comau’s desire to innovate together, to solve increasingly difficult problems in new ways. We are excited about the next developments of this project, as well as the opportunities it will give to current and future manufacturers of industrial solutions».
