Ducati MotoE, track test for the Borgo Panigale electric motorcycle

First track test for Ducati’s electric motorcycle. The Ducati MotoE took to the track at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, where the agreement with Dorna Sports was announced in October. In fact, starting from the 2023 season, the Borgo Panigale motorcycle manufacturer will be the sole supplier of the motorcycles for the Fim Enel MotoEWorld Cup, the electric class of the MotoGP World Championship.

Ducati V21L

The electric motorcycle prototype, codenamed “V21L”, was born from the joint work of the Ducati Corse team and the Ducati R&D designers, led by Roberto Canè (eMobility Director Ducati), and was brought to the track by Michele Pirro, rider Ducati professional and test rider since 2013, who tested the technical characteristics and potential of the first Ducati electric motorcycle. The most important challenges in the development of an electric racing motorcycle remain related to the size, weight and range of the batteries. The focus of the project is, in addition to the best performance, the containment of weight and the constant delivery of power during the race, also obtained thanks to the attention in the development of a cooling system suitable for the objective. The goal is to create, as soon as technology allows it, a Ducati electric vehicle for road use that is sporty and light and able to satisfy all enthusiasts.
