Elon Musk’s drug use concerned his partners and members of the company’s board of directors so much that They asked him to go to rehab and even take time off from work to detox from various substance use, such as LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and ketamine, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal.

A close friend of Musk, former Tesla chief Larry Ellison, also a billionaire co-founder of Oracle, proposed Musk to travel to Hawaii during the winter of 2022 to “relax from work and give up drugs,” the outlet reports, citing people familiar with the matter. Ellison’s proposal came amid the growing concern among Musk’s friends and associates that Musk’s drug use was getting worse according to The Journal.

At a party in the Hollywood Hills that took place around the time of Ellison’s offer, one person who attended the event said Musk drank ecstasy in “liquid form” from a water bottle after their security officials cleared the area to guarantee their privacy.

The Wall Street Journal It also notes that the “volume” of Musk’s drug use has contributed to a culture of peer pressure among his friends and the directors of his various companies, generated an “expectation” that they would take the same substances with him to maintain social status earned by being close to the billionaire.
