The German pension insurance justifies the fact that the supplement does not apply to those affected who received a disability pension in later years by saying that there were extensive improvements to the disability pension in 2014 and from 2019 onwards, which already meet today’s standards. This increase in the amounts by 4.5 or 7.5 percent will cost the federal government, which ultimately pays for it, 1.3 billion euros in 2024 and 2.6 billion euros in 2025. It will also be supplemented by an increase in the pension value from July 1, 2024. Around three million people are expected to benefit from this. The correct surcharge should also be taken into account automatically. According to the current status, an application does not need to be submitted.
