Ford has unveiled a new electric pickup concept, the F-150 Lightning Switchgear, which is aimed at off-road performance. The vehicle, which is still just a concept, is a project of Ford Performance and RTR Vehicles and is designed to demonstrate the potential of electric vehicles.
The F-150 Lightning Switchgear features a carbon fiber exterior body with a custom livery, and is equipped with upgrades for off-road use. It has a wider track width for stability in off-road mode, increased ground clearance, and suspension travel. The suspension utilizes FOX 3-inch internal bypass shocks, allowing for both off-road capability and asphalt performance.
The vehicle also features carbon composite front fenders, bed sides, and rear bumper cover, as well as steel rails and a front protective plate. Inside, it has Recaro seats, a roll cage, and unique decals and colors.
The Ford F-150 Lightning Switchgear will make its public debut at the King of the Hammers off-road racing event in California on January 25. The concept demonstrates Ford’s commitment to advancing future electric vehicle models and the potential for performance-oriented electric off-road vehicles.
