Formula E: Antonio Felix DA Costa (Ds Techeetah) wins at the Monaco E-Prix

by admin

In Monte Carlo, for the Monaco E-Prix, the drivers of the 100% electric championship are giving the fans yet another thrilling performance of this first FIA World Championship season.
The protagonist is the superpoleman and reigning champion Antonio Felix Da Costa, who climbs to the top step of the podium aboard his Ds Techeetah after a hard-fought race, returning to the race for the title thanks to a leap forward in the overall standings that brings him to fourth place with 52 points.

How did the race go and how the ranking changes

The competition risked being heavily influenced by the entry of the safety car a few laps from the end: the stop of René Rast’s Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler left the fans with bated breath for a few minutes. However, the incident gave the riders the opportunity to regroup, starting an exciting 6-minute long battle plus a lap between Da Costa, Mitch Evans, Robin Frijns and Jean Eric Vergne. Behind the winner, the Dutchman of the Envision Virgin Racing team, Robin Frijns, who gets to the second place overall, establishes himself as the new leader of the world with 62 points (without having won a race yet), followed by the Australian Mitch Evans in the Jaguar (third in the world standings with 54 points) and by Vergne, who finished in fourth position. Another weekend full of difficulties for the Mercedes Eq team, with Nyck De Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne who are unable to cross the finish line and collect a very heavy “zero”. However, the team manages to keep the lead of the overall standings with 105 points albeit chased by Jaguar Racing now only two points away. The Dutch driver, Nyck De Vries, leader of the world rankings on the eve of the Monaco E-Prix, is overtaken by his compatriot Frijns and remains blocked at 57 points after the second consecutive zero this season.
