Gas, prices soaring before the Emergency Committee: we could go from an early warning to an alarm

The price of gas starts to rise again. After hitting a peak of 128.25 euros, gas at the Dutch Ttf hub stood at 127 euros per megawatt hour, up 7.867%. Therefore, the price of natural gas in the first session of the week settled at 126 euros per MWh. On the Amsterdam Square, futures for the month of July recorded an increase of 7.02% to 126 euros per MWh. Similar situation in London, where 212 pennies are asked for a thermal unit (Mbtu), with a 5.05% increase on last Friday’s closing. In short, on the day before the summit of the Emergency Committee wanted by the government to deal with the increase in the price of energy and, specifically, gas and petrol, the issue risks becoming more complicated. Confirmation of new cuts for Europe also arrives today from Moscow: “We have gas ready for export, but Europeans must return the repaired turbines of the Nord Stream pipe,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov, as reported by Interfax. “The Europeans did not return the turbines from the Nord Stream pipeline after maintenance, and this is the reason for the delays in the supply of gas to Europe,” he added.
It is precisely on the issue of stocks, therefore, that the work of the government is focusing, which this week will be busy taking stock of the situation, identifying measures for a storage plan and evaluating the possibility of raising the alert level.
