Gas Service Interruption in Havana: Affects the Gas Supply Throughout Cuba

Gas Service Interruption Impacts Cuban Capital, Affects Customers Across the Country

The Manufactured Gas Company of Havana has informed its customers that there will be a disruption in the gas service in the Cuban capital. This is due to a failure in the ENERGAS SA Boca de Jaruco pipeline, which supplies the production plants of the company. The failure is expected to affect the volume of gas sent to the capital and its inhabitants. The service will be partially or totally suspended in the municipalities of Plaza, Cerro, La Habana Vieja, Centro Habana, 10 de Octubre, Playa, and Marianao, especially during peak lunch hours.

“We are working tirelessly to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this interruption may cause,” the company stated in an official media report.

The impact of the gas service interruption is not limited to the capital. The sale of liquefied gas, also known as “balita gas,” has been inconsistent in recent months across the country. In Las Tunas, the UEB Territorial Division of Fuel Marketing (DTCC) acknowledged difficulties in acquiring the product online and reported that only 95 cylinders were offered for 1,508 active customers, along with connection problems.

In Cienfuegos, the sale of liquefied gas to the population is set to be reactivated, with priority given to customers with late deliveries. The Virtual Store will reopen its service on Monday, with a schedule set for sales programming in February.

The gas situation in Matanzas and Holguín is also being closely monitored. In Matanzas, gas supply is guaranteed to Children’s Daycare Centers, Health Centers, and selected points of sale, with the distribution plan for points of sale to be reported shortly. In Holguín, sales in the virtual store are expected to resume on Monday, 02-19-2024, with any changes to be communicated in time.

The gas service disruption in Havana and the challenges in acquiring liquefied gas across the country underscore the ongoing difficulties in meeting the demand for gas in Cuba. Customers are advised to stay updated on the latest developments and plan accordingly.
