Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned a multi-purpose sports complex for the 13th African Games, which will be hosted in Ghana next month.

The Borteyman sports complex in Accra has facilities for events such as swimming, tennis, handball, volleyball and athletics. During the ceremony, Akufo-Addo said the country has invested enormous resources to build the facility, which will be able to accommodate at least 5,000 athletes, 3,000 officials and thousands of fans visiting the country, and expects a global audience for the Games 2.2 billion people, on traditional media and social media.

“As we enter the final phase of preparations for the African Games next month, we will do everything we can to welcome our visitors and ensure the best organization for the events,” Akufo-Addo said. According to the local organizing commission, as of Tuesday, 49 African countries have confirmed their participation in the Games. [Da Redazione InfoAfrica]
