Growing only with culture: the small business case Aditus, which lands in Genoa from Sicily

That of Access is a rather original small business case in Italy: born only 6 years ago, it continues to grow despite the pandemic and despite only dealing with culture management. A fact that is not so frequent in our country, where there are companies that deal with tickets or the organization of exhibitions or events, but it is difficult to find companies that deal with all these segments at the same time. Aditus was also born in the South of Italy, rich in artistic and cultural heritage but often not adequately valued.

Founded in 2016, the company led by Riccardo Ercoli now has 80 employees, of which 65% are women, an average age 35-38, 2 million visitors a year (net of the pandemic) in the managed sites and a turnover of over 14 million per year. The activity focused on sites of Eastern Sicily: Syracuse Archaeological Park, Bellomo Palace Gallery (Syracuse), Paolo Orsi Archaeological Museum (Syracuse), Maniace Castle (Syracuse), Ancient Theater of Taormina, Giardini di Naxos, Mume (Messina), Archaeological Area of Tindari, Villa Romana di Patti, Isolabella Museum, Lipari Archaeological Park.

It deals with tickets, enhancement and promotion of sites through the care of exhibitions and events, communication and promotion of sites through social channels for guided tours for students and visitors, personnel management, management of bars and cafes within cultural sites. And then again tourist trips to the cities of art and food and wine tours.

The fact that he has a 360-degree management of culture has allowed him to recently reach the Galata Sea Museum in Genoa, the largest maritime museum in the Mediterranean, on which we will work on a process of digitization and promotion of contents. In addition to this Aditus organizes traditional guided tours in cities of art such as Naples, Pompeii, Matera, Venice, Rome. It also manages the Educational online platform for schools. This latest initiative, lasiciliaracconta.it, was born during Covid, to spread culture and also reach children and young people in Dad.

Among the main activities carried out in 2021, the reopening after 38 years of the Grotta dei Cordari in the archaeological site of Syracuse, which, we recall, is among the finalist cities candidates for capital of culture 2024. “Culture needs to take a step forward – declares Riccardo Ercoli, President of Aditus -. This is why we have chosen to distinguish ourselves from our competitors by creating an all-round business, which focuses on the digitalization of the management and sales processes of services through a platform developed ad hoc. Digitization also allows us to enhance cultural sites in an innovative way, bringing even the youngest people closer to ancient history and redevelop spaces to offer new experiences ».
