[NTD News on August 13, 2021, Beijing time]The online ride-hailing company Didi Chuxing, which was purged by the Chinese Communist Party for listing in the United States, has reported new news. Hong Kong media reported that three Didi executives are under investigation by the Office of the Cyberspace Administration of China, and the management may be shuffled. The next day Didi Chuxing responded that the rumors about changes in the company’s management were “false information.”

On August 11, Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post reported that, according to multiple sources, the CCP’s Cyberspace Administration of China is investigating Didi Chuxing Headquarters to determine who is responsible for Didi’s decision to go public in the United States. The investigation procedure includes summoning middle-level managers for several hours of questioning every day.

According to sources, the subjects of the investigation include Didi Chuxing co-founder and chairman Cheng Wei, co-founder and president Liu Qing, and senior vice president Zhu Jingshi. The results of the investigation may force Didi to replace its management.

According to the report, these three senior executives have “more than 50% of the voting rights” of Didi Chuxing’s board of directors.

According to the South China Morning Post, Zhang Yong, chairman and CEO of Alibaba, and Liu Chiping, president of Tencent, are both directors of Didi’s board of directors, but they have clearly recommended that Didi postpone its listing in New York. The owner of the South China Morning Post is Alibaba.

On August 12, the official WeChat account of Didi Chuxing responded, claiming that “the rumors about the company’s management changes in the market are false information”, but confirmed that the company is currently “actively cooperating with cybersecurity reviews.”

Didi President Liu Qing is the daughter of Liu Chuanzhi, founder of Lenovo Group, another industry giant. After Didi Chuxing was hit by the authorities in early July, Liu Chuanzhi was also caught in a storm of public opinion.

On June 30, Didi Chuxing was listed in the United States, and was subsequently vigorously purged by the Beijing authorities. It is reported that when the authorities expressed their opposition, Didi went to the US to go public on the eve of the CCP’s Centennial Party Celebration. This rather “political” move annoyed Xi Jinping.

Didi Chuxing is accused of involving the capital of many CCP princelings, including Jiang Zemin’s grandson Jiang Zhicheng. This may be one of the reasons why Didi dared to go against the will of the authorities.
