Group medicine will be reinforced with an employee and a nurse

Agreement reached with the doctors of the Pedemontana The Blue Cross cooperative will provide additional resources

/ saint justina

From 1 September, the group medicine of the Pedemontana based in Santa Giustina will have a full-time administrative office with secretarial hours of four hours in the morning and three in the afternoon on every weekday, and a professional nurse dedicated to the management of chronic diseases in outpatient clinics and scheduling patient check-ups.

This is the result of an agreement between the operating doctors between Cesiomaggiore Santa Giustina, Sedico and Sospirolo, who relied on the Blue Cross cooperative to have these two precious additional resources, salaried by the same professionals each for their own part, who put the doctor in the condition of visiting the patient without bureaucratic or other interruptions. Also because the catchment area of the patients, the largest in the Feltre district, reaches almost ten thousand people.

Specifically, Cristina Bianchi and Renzo Pegoraro, the first retired since July, the second since the end of this month, who had also expressed great concerns to the Ulss Dolomiti company about the future of care management without adequate administrative and nursing support.

Renzo Pegoraro has done even more: he waited for the brilliant Sedico doctor Chiara Dal Pont to graduate, obtained on July 14 with full marks, honors and a mention of honor, to give her the baton. And the choice of the specialty of the young doctor will be oriented precisely on general medicine, in the wake of her predecessor.

“In an equipped office such as that of Santa Giustina”, explains Chiara Dal Pont, “we can dedicate ourselves exclusively to visits to patients because outside there are those who regulate traffic, with a secretary who answers the phone and filters calls, takes appointments, delivers repeatable recipes. And with a nurse who manages the check-ups of people with diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease or hypertension and who prescribes patients known as chronic to schedule scheduled visits. All this will put us in a position to work well, also reserving the time for discussion between colleagues on particular diagnostic cases ».

And if Santa Giustina’s group medicine has been able to count on the prompt availability of a doctor, there is also a critical remark, on the part of the doctor in the odor of retirement, addressed to all the institutions responsible for programming. A sort of ideal testament, on the part of Pegoraro who thinks, once again, of the good of his clients and of all his colleagues.

“It is not possible to find yourself with water in your throat every time a general practitioner retires. The local health authorities know well in advance the termination of doctors’ service. Is it possible that the analysis of the needs is not carried out with the same speed and that we find ourselves with vacancies for as long as a year? Here if the doctor had not been there, none of the colleagues in the area would have been able to take other patients ». –
