Huawei Mate X5 Dominates Sales in China, Proving Yu Chengdong Right
In a significant comeback, Huawei has solidified its position in the mobile phone market with the Huawei Mate 60 series and the Huawei Mate X5. According to Kuai Technology‘s report on January 9, the Chinese tech giant has taken the top spot in the mobile phone circle in 2023, signaling a revival in the previously sluggish market.
Data from the research organization BCI revealed that in the fourth quarter of 2023, Huawei maintained its lead in China’s folding screen mobile phone market with an impressive 51.23% share of domestic sales. Honor and Samsung followed closely behind with shares of 15.54% and 15.23%, respectively. However, it was the Huawei Mate X5 that stole the spotlight, capturing 52.37% of sales in the large foldable category, solidifying its position as the hottest folding screen of the year.
Huawei’s success comes as no surprise, especially given the confidence expressed by Huawei’s Managing Director and Terminal BG CEO, Yu Chengdong, during the pre-sales launch of the Mate X5. Chengdong boldly claimed, “The most powerful foldable screen phone has to be Huawei,” a statement that now seems to be validated by the latest sales data.
Looking ahead, Huawei is reportedly gearing up to triple its shipments of folding screens in 2024, with plans to increase the number of units from 2.6 million to 7 million to 10 million. This ambitious move is set to further cement Huawei’s position in the market and regain lost market share.
