IKEA to Open New Store in Carolina

The highly anticipated opening of the new IKEA store in Carolina is set to take place on Tuesday, February 20 at 9:00 am. Located in the former Toys R’Us space, next to Marshalls in the Pueblo de los Gigantes, the store spans approximately 50,000 square feet and represents a $13 million investment, generating 75 new jobs.

This new addition brings IKEA’s presence in Puerto Rico to two full-service stores, along with a point of sale in Ponce and a warehouse in Bayamón. As a result, the Plaza Escorial IKEA location in Carolina will cease operations.

The new single-level IKEA in Carolina will feature four cash registers and a bistro area offering a variety of products, including the chain’s famous meatballs, Swedish coffee, cookies, juices, and chocolates. Customers will also have the option to purchase Swedish coffee in bags, in either grain or ground form.

In addition to its retail offerings, the store will have a showroom designed to inspire consumers, displaying various room setups including living areas, home office spaces, fully equipped kitchens, bedrooms, and more. Complementary items such as cushions, curtains, rugs, decorative items, and tableware will also be available for purchase.

Furthermore, the store will offer a kitchen design service led by specialists, and customers who are enrolled in the IKEA Family benefits program will receive a 10% refund on their total purchase, usable for future purchases. The chain also offers 5% cash back on all IKEA purchases and free coffee for IKEA Family subscribers.

Mayra Díaz, Marketing Coordinator for IKEA in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, expressed optimism about the company’s continued expansion plans on the island. The construction of a new warehouse in Bayamón, near the Santa Rosa Mall, is also underway and is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
