Anhui Province Governor Wang Qingxian delivers government work report, stating that the province’s grain output is expected to reach a new high
The first plenary session of the second session of the 14th Anhui Provincial People’s Congress opened at the Anhui Grand Theater on the 23rd. Anhui Province Governor Wang Qingxian delivered a government work report, highlighting the province’s achievements in agriculture and poverty alleviation.
In his report, Governor Wang stated that in 2023, Anhui Province’s grain output is expected to reach 83.016 billion kilograms, which would be a new high for the province. He also outlined a number of initiatives and projects aimed at further developing the province’s agricultural sector, including the construction of 100 billion catties of Jianghuai granary, and the implementation of the “straw to meat” and beef cattle revitalization plan.
The report also emphasized the province’s efforts to promote science and technology in agriculture, with the implementation of the Anhui Gengyun’s large-scale agricultural model and the successful hosting of the national home event of the Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival. Additionally, the report highlighted the province’s achievements in poverty alleviation, with the per capita net income of people lifted out of poverty expected to increase by 15.2% in 2023.
Looking ahead, Anhui will continue to prioritize the development of agriculture and rural areas, with a focus on accelerating the construction of a high-quality and efficient agricultural province. This includes initiatives such as stabilizing the area and increasing the yield of farmland, strengthening the construction of farmland water conservancy facilities, and implementing the seed industry revitalization action in order to support the entire industry chain of the seed industry.
