Former daily news anchor Judith Rakers has built a second career for herself after her time on television.
She writes bestsellers and sells products related to gardening and DIY.
According to experts, Rakers is in keeping with the spirit of the times and is likely to continue to be successful with her company.
Judith Rakers was the spokeswoman for the Tagesschau on ARD for almost 19 years. Since her last broadcast on January 31, 2024, the presenter has been concentrating on her second career as an author and entrepreneur.

In the “SWR State Show” Judith Rakers said it was of course emotional to leave the Tagesschau after 19 years – but she consciously decided to do so in order to “do something else”. And she decided on something really different: She lives in a single-family home near Hamburg and runs a self-catering farm there, Rakers said on the show.
She keeps chickens and has a garden on the large property. As an author, she passes on her knowledge about the topic of “home farming” and sells her own products in her online shop.
Successful professional reorientation
This change is more of a gain than a loss for her, Rakers told the “Handelsblatt“. Various sources of income are responsible for this. She continues to film travel reports and moderate events, the newspaper writes. In addition, there would be income from her books and the online shop. There she sells seeds, her own spices and garden tools.
Quality and sustainability are important to her when it comes to her products, she told the “Handelsblatt”. She is also involved at all stages of product development, “from the product idea to design and sales.” These principles are also reflected in the products: Rakers, for example, sells a plant shovel that is hand-forged in Bavaria and made with sustainable materials.

Rakers is “up to date”
Rakers has made a hit with her company, but the success doesn’t come by chance. Eva Stüber from the Institute for Retail Research told the “Handelsblatt” that Rakers was “up to date”. Sustainability still plays a major role for many customers. Marketing expert Karsten Killian from the Würzburg University of Technology added that Rakers is in high demand. That’s why he’s sure that their company will work. “Nothing can go wrong,” he told the newspaper.
