Kenya: inflation falling in March

Kenya’s inflation fell in March from the previous month, driven by falling prices of some food products and transportation costs. This was stated by the Nairobi statistics office.

Inflation fell to 5.7% year-on-year in March, from 6.3% in February: On a monthly basis, inflation was 0.2% compared to 0.1% in February. The government preferred an inflation range of between 2.5% and 7.5% in the medium term.

Tomorrow Central Bank will announce its latest decision on the lending rate. In February, the Bank increased the reference rate to 13.0%, from the previous 12.5%.
