Xiaomi’s Li Nan: Copying a Porsche using our supply chain resources is nearly impossible

After Xiaomi’s car technology conference sparked controversy over the technology and appearance of their model, Angry Miao founder Li Nan took to Weibo to address the skepticism. He made a bold statement, claiming that even with Xiaomi’s vast supply chain resources, 99.9999% of people would be unable to successfully copy a Porsche car.

In his post, Li Nan emphasized the underestimation of the technical content of “supply chain integration” by Volkswagen. He challenged anyone from Xiaomi, including CEO Lei Jun, to attempt to copy a Porsche car using the company’s accumulated supply chain resources, stating that it would be nearly impossible to guarantee the time to market, quality stability, and cost advantages simultaneously.

He went on to express his admiration for achieving perfection in any link of the industrial chain, citing TSMC as an example. Li Nan also praised Xiaomi and its ecosystem for the extraordinary abilities required to produce a multitude of SKUs with similar cost, quality, and design. He referred to this accomplishment as a “miracle” and highlighted the company’s exceptional organizational efficiency, management team, management methods, and capital capabilities.

According to Li Nan, this capability represents Xiaomi’s core competitive advantage and is unparalleled in the world. He asserted that such prowess is not commonly found even in novels and may not be readily available in the entire United States.

As the controversy surrounding Xiaomi’s car technology continues, Li Nan’s remarks shed light on the company’s unique strengths and capabilities in the automotive industry.
