Lucid Air announced at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show that it has expanded the offering of its Air electric sedan with the rear-wheel drive version which is also intended for the European market where the American brand is present, at least for the moment, in only four countries, Germany, Holland, Norway and Switzerland.
Lucid Air targets premium brands
The Lucid Air Pure EWD, the entry level version, is equipped with a single electric motor and therefore rear-wheel drive. With this version the American brand aims to compete with premium brands, targeting both BMW and Mercedes in particular, as well as Audi and even Tesla.
Lucid Air’s reference market is Germany
According to Lucid Air, the new model could increase sales in the Old Continent and in particular in Germany where it is equipping itself with a greater number of showrooms as well as assistance centres. As mentioned, the Lucid Air has a single engine for a total power of 442 hp.
The new Lucid Air recharges 400 km in 20 minutes
The performance is interesting with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. As regards autonomy, the model claims a range of up to 747 km. The car uses the same 900 V electric platform as the other Lucid Airs and recharges at very high power: in 20 minutes it regains 400 km.
The current range starts from the Air Touring
In any case, the Air Touring and Air Gran Touring versions are also already available in Europe. The first offers a 628 hp dual engine and all-wheel drive with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds for a range of approximately 725 km. The Air Touring is on sale at a price in Germany of 99 thousand euros.
