Maneuver, CGIL and UIL proclaim 8 hours of general strike for December 16 with a national demonstration in Rome

by admin

8-hour general strike for next December 16, with a national demonstration in Rome and the simultaneous carrying out of similar and interconnected interregional initiatives in 4 other cities against the government’s economic maneuver. The decision was made by the CGIL and UIL who, between last Friday and today, brought together their individual statutory bodies for an evaluation of the budget law.

“While appreciating the effort and commitment of Premier Draghi and his executive, the maneuver was considered unsatisfactory”, the two confederations say in unison, entrusting the criticisms to a very long list of sore points: “tax, pensions, school, industrial policies and contrast to relocations, contrast to job insecurity especially of young people and women, non self-sufficiency, all the more in light of the resources, available in this phase, which would have allowed a more effective redistribution of wealth, to reduce inequalities and to generate balanced and structural development and stable employment ”, they say.

The general secretaries of CGIL and UIL, Maurizio Landini and PierPaolo Bombardieri, will speak from the demonstration in Rome, which will take place in Piazza del Popolo, reads the unitary note which refers to the press conference on 7 December at 5.30 pm, at Hotel Londra in Piazza Sallustio in Rome during which Landini and Bombardieri will illustrate the reasons and methods of the strike.

The CISL has not joined the protest, but it is not the first time: already in the strike of 12 December 2014, against the jobs act, the CISL was not present.
