Markets expect the Fed to cut interest rates for the first time in September, after expecting a rate cut in June just a few weeks ago. “We’ve seen a significant adjustment in interest rate expectations in the US and that’s kind of a benchmark for global interest rates,” said Kiwibank’s Jarrod Kerr. “I think the Fed will repeat those comments this week that rate cuts are not as close as they had hoped.”
