Maserati’s electrification continues with the debut of the new Levante Hybrid, the most anticipated Italian novelty at the Shanghai Motor Show. The Trident SUV will be available from June in the version powered by the hybrid engine with a 48-volt system of 330 horsepower. The new four-cylinder, already fitted to the Ghibli Hybrid, aims to combine the low fuel consumption of the diesel engine with the performance of the petrol V6. As a tradition, driving performance will be an added value of the Emilian hybrid SUV, amplified by the unmistakable sound of Maserati. Characterized by blue details, the electrified novelty is always connected thanks to the Maserati Connect program and is equipped with the latest generation of the Mia multimedia system (Maserati Intelligent Assist) based on Android Automotive.

Aesthetically, the new Maserati Levante Hybrid mounts rear lights with the boomerang design, already introduced with the MY21 version. To emphasize the boomerang shape, the headlights have been made with an innovative 3K injection technology that allows the headlight to have a tricolor lens: black in the perimeter part, red in the central part and transparent in the lower part. The exteriors are distinguished by a series of chromed inserts in the front fascia, chromed protection plates at the front and rear, rear spoiler in the same color as the car, Cobalt Blue brake calipers (optional) and 19 ”Zefiro alloy wheels.

The interiors feature the central 8 ”4 screen with improved resolution and graphics and, above all, with a visual effect that makes it appear as a single curved screen on which the air vents have been carved, leading to a vertical reading of everything the whole. The lower part of the displays has the Maserati back screen printed inside the screen, giving a three-dimensional effect. The instrument cluster which includes a large tachometer and speedometer, also analogue, but with revised graphics, alongside a 7 ”TFT display, has a technologically advanced look. The resolution and graphics of the display between tachometer and odometer have also been revised, now combined with that of the large central screen with the introduction of the golden outlines that characterize and embellish the appearance.

The hybrid system allows you to have the same pickup as the diesel version combined with the power and acceleration of the 350 horsepower V6 petrol with a significant saving in carbon dioxide consumption which is reduced by more than 18% compared to petrol and 3% compared to to diesel according to Wltp data. The Maserati 48 volt hybrid system consists of four elements: BSG, battery, eBooster and a dc / dc converter. The BSG (Belt Starter Generator) performs the function of an alternator, allows to recover energy during braking and deceleration and charges the battery located in the boot compartment which, in turn, serves to power the eBooster it is equipped with. the engine.
The purpose of the presence of an electric compressor on the car is to go to support the classic turbocharger, working in series with it, supporting the power delivery of the engine at low revs. The operating strategy of the hybrid system allows you to always have the eBooster available, via battery or BSG, should it be necessary. The BSG and eBooster combination allows you to give an extra boost even when the engine is running at full speed in sport mode, at which time you can fully enjoy the benefits related to performance, while in normal mode it serves to balance fuel consumption and performance.
