After the attack on the power supply to the Tesla factory in Grünheide, Elon Musk is committed to Germany as a location.
Musk wants to locate the production of additional Tesla models in Grünheide, including a cheaper electric car and the Tesla semi-trailer Semi.
The Tesla boss considers an attack in the name of environmental protection to be silly in view of Tesla’s fight against climate change: “Were there bigger forces at work here? Are they just puppets and someone else has their back?”
Tesla boss Elon Musk supports Germany as a location after the attack on the Gigafactory’s power supply in Grünheide near Berlin. Musk wants to further expand Europe’s only car factory. Production of further Tesla models is to be located in Germany. “I think this is a great place,” Musk told Handelsblatt.
Musk visited the Tesla factory on Wednesday after a fire on a utility pole last week knocked out power to the factory. Production started again on Wednesday.

Environmentalists are critical of the Tesla Gigafacory
Tesla plans to increase production in Grünheide from 500,000 to one million cars per year. Most recently, around 300,000 cars were produced per year. According to the company, around 12,500 people are employed in Grünheide. Despite the planned plant expansion, environmentalists and residents have major concerns about the plant, which is partly located in a water protection area.
Musk suggests that an attack in the name of environmental protection would be silly given Tesla’s efforts to combat climate change. The Tesla boss had to ask himself, “Were larger forces at work here? Are they just puppets and someone else has their back?”

Musk wants to build the semi-trailer Semi and a cheap Tesla model in Grünheide
During his appearance in front of the workforce in Grünheide, Tesla boss Elon Musk announced the prospect of producing further Tesla models in Germany. The cheaper electric car planned for the coming years will “definitely come to Berlin in the long term,” Musk told the “Handelsblatt”. According to current plans, production of the affordable Tesla model could begin in Austin, Texas, in the second half of 2025.
Musk also said that he thinks it makes sense to also build the Tesla Semi electric semi-trailer in Berlin. He had already presented the truck in 2017. This is currently being produced in small quantities in Nevada, reports the “Handelblatt”.
