German filmmakers can also have their hopes up: Sandra Hülser has been nominated for the Best Actress award for her role in the French thriller “Anatomy of a Case”. The drama “The Teacher’s Room” by German director Ilker Catak is competing for the award for the best international film.
The veteran German director Wim Wenders is also nominated in the same category – but for Japan. In “Perfect Days” Wenders describes the everyday life of a toilet cleaner in Tokyo. The contenders for the main prize for the best film of the year include the epic “Oppenheimer” about the inventor of the atomic bomb, “Killers of the Flower Moon” by veteran director Martin Scorsese, “Barbie” and also “Anatomy of a Fall”. “Oppenheimer” has the most Oscar nominations. The film is in the running in 13 categories at the 96th Academy Awards.
