The Opel Grandland reaches its second generation and does so by debuting Stellantis’ Stla Medium platform, for the first time mounted on a model of the German brand. Grown by almost 20 centimeters, it was born electric with around 700 kilometers of autonomy but will also be available with 48 volt hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines.

How long is the new Opel Grandland? The German SUV reaches a length of 4650 mm, with an increase of 173 mm compared to the past. It also grows in width, height and wheelbase, reaching 1,905, 1,660 and 2,784 millimeters respectively. Aesthetically, it brings stylistic details seen on the Opel Experimental concept car onto the road starting from the “Opel Compass” design. It is based on the center crease of the hood, with all other elements organized horizontally with the “Electrified Blitz” emblem in the center. The front features Vizor 3D, combined with the illuminated Opel Blitz logo made even more evident by Edge Light technology. The headlights are also new, now with Intelli-Lux Pixel Matrix HD technology with over 50,000 lighting elements. Compared to the past, it shows clearer lines and makes its debut with the illuminated Opel writing on the rear. High load capacity, with a volume from 550 to 1,641 liters and the possibility of folding the rear seats with a 40:20:40 split.

The interiors have also been completely revised, with the large 16-inch monitor in the center of the dashboard from which to manage the new infotainment system to which is added a small screen in front of the driver and the Intelli-Hud head-up display. On board there is no lack of ChatGpt connected to the voice assistant, solutions such as the Pixel Box where you can store, recharge your smartphone and view it through the plastic surface, 35 liters of space between the various compartments present, telephone pockets in the backrests and ergonomic Agr seats with electric pillows. This feature improves lateral comfort adjustment thanks to two pneumatic pockets located in the side backrest pads. As standard, the patented Intelli-Seat function in the front seats, a slot that reduces pressure on the coccyx.

The first Opel to use the Stla Medium native electric platform, the Opel Grandland bev will have a range of approximately 700 kilometers thanks to the 98 kWh battery pack combined with the heat pump. Using fast charging stations, it will take 26 minutes to go from 20 to 80% charge.

Despite the use of the Stla Medium platform, the Grandland can also be combined with internal combustion engines with plug-in hybrid technology with 85 kilometers of electric range with WLTP approval. The Grandland range will also see the arrival of a 48-volt hybrid version. The new platform, according to German technicians, will improve driving pleasure thanks to solutions such as shock absorbers with frequency-selective damping technology. This technology creates a second hydraulic circuit in the shock chamber to mechanically adapt the damping force in relation to the frequency.
