Positive tune for Piazza Affari at the beginning of the week. The Ftse Mib closed + 1.67% at 23,426 points. Expectations for the new round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are giving momentum to the markets, although fears of an escalation remain. It is also backed up by the drop in oil prices with Brent and WTI losing more than 8%. The surge in COVID-19 cases in China, which has led to new lockdowns in some cities of China, including Shenzhen, weighs on commodity prices in general.

In the background, the wait for the central bank meetings with the Fed, the Bank of England and the Bank of Japan that will meet in the next few days and the first two that should increase rates.

Spotlight today on Tim (+ 4.95% 0.3031 euros) after yesterday’s board of directors mandated the CEO to initiate a formal dialogue with Kkr in addition to those already undertaken informally in recent months by the consultants. The board confirmed the belief that there is an unspoken value in Tim that must be duly taken into consideration when evaluating any ‘alternative option’ to the implementation of the industrial plan.

Among the other stocks, Unipol’s + 3.7% stands out, as well as the leaps of Intesa (+ 3.7%) and Unicredit (+ 3.3%). Leonardo was weak (-1.62%) with some profit-taking after intraday the stock had pushed up to € 9.60 on the maximum since February 2020.
