Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed rumors about Russian missiles launched on Kiev in a speech delivered to the nation this morning. Zelensky said the missiles started hitting the Ukrainian capital at 4am local time, adding that Russian troops were stopped by Ukrainian forces. According to Reuters, the president stressed that Russian missiles have both military and civilian targets. In the last few hours Zelensky has also announced that so far, since the announcement of the attack on Ukraine by Russian President Vladimir Putin, 137 people have lost their lives and 316 have been injured. In a video message broadcast yesterday evening Zelensky did not fail to point the finger at the international community:
Ukraine “was left alone” to fight Russia, the president said, asking, “Who is ready to fight with us? I don’t see anyone. Who is ready to give Ukraine a guarantee of NATO membership? All of them?” they are afraid”.
