The Quaker Oats Company has expanded its recall of more than 27 of its products due to possible salmonella contamination. The recall, initially carried out on December 15, was expanded and reported to the United States Department of Food on January 11.
The affected products include various granola bars, cereal bars, cereals, instant oatmeal, Gatorade protein bars, and snack mix. Consumers are urged to check their pantries for any of the affected products and dispose of them.
The effects of salmonella contamination can be serious, causing infections that can be fatal if not treated promptly. Groups particularly sensitive to the effects of salmonella include young children, elderly or frail individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may experience symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fever, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
The affected products are sold in the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Saipan. Consumers can contact Quaker Consumer Relations at 1-800-492-9322 or visit the brand’s official website www.QuakerRecallUSA.com for more information.
In addition to the Quaker Oats recall, other food recalls due to possible contamination or foreign materials include 133,039 pounds of turkey sausage, 11,097 pounds of sausage meats, and 6,768 pounds of raw meat. All consumers are advised to remain vigilant and stay up to date with product recalls and health alerts.
