Railways, Cdp, Sogei and Rai: the nomination game reopens with the renewal of 63 boards of directors: the canvas of parties and government

The big maneuvers have begun. Although according to some it is still “too early” and no one, they say from the government, has yet “put their mind to it”. But in the spring a new round of appointments will begin which will affect some strategic subsidiaries starting from FS (which has to put several billions of the Pnrr on the ground) and Anas (at the center of the investigation into procurement which led to Tommaso Verdini being placed under house arrest), up to to Cassa Depositi e Prestiti. A game in which those lobbies to which, according to majority sources, Giorgia Meloni referred when speaking of those who “thought of dealing the cards” could return to action, ensuring that they intended to move free from “conditions”. Having made the choices for the large public subsidiaries last spring, this year it will be the turn of a series of companies both under direct control of the Mef such as Sogei and Sose, but also Cinecittà, the GSE and Invimit, and of numerous companies controlled indirectly through the parent companies (among the many Open Fiber, among the 5 indirectly owned by Cdp with bodies expiring): in total, according to a dossier from the Service for Parliamentary Control of the Chamber) there are 63 boards of directors (of which 48 are second level) . For Cdp, one of the most powerful public instruments in the economic field and which has seen its activity expand in recent years, the game also involves foundations. The entities are minority shareholders after the MEF and, by statute, appoint the president while the majority of the board of directors and the CEO are appointed by the government. A replacement for the current CEO Dario Scannapieco appears increasingly likely but the executive has not yet expressed a choice. The lists of names circulated range from Antonino Turicchi (president of Ita and former director of the Cassa in the past) and two bankers, Gaetano Miccichè of Intesa and Alessandro Daffina of Rothschild Italia. However, the name should not be displeasing to the foundations themselves who, however, together with their association Acri, are in a phase of change of leadership. The president, Francesco Profumo, will leave office in May after ceasing his mandate at Compagnia di San Paolo, a large shareholder of Intesa Sanpaolo. At Acri the names under discussion would be those of the president of the CRT Fabrizio Palenzona, long-time politician, manager and banker and of Cariplo’s number one Giovanni Azzone. Another major issue is that of Rai on which, as the prime minister clarified, a “rebalancing” is underway after years of choices dictated, in her reasoning, by the centre-left. For public television, a relay should emerge between the current CEO Roberto Sergio and the general director Giampaolo Rossi. But the conditional is still a must. While for the presidency, Simona Agnes is currently the name in pole position, current Rai councilor (with Fi share).
