The British security company, Westminster Group, has announced that it has completed the ratification process of the contract signed with the government of Kinshasa in 2021 to provide security services at five airports in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“The contract, which will have an initial duration of 10 years, with a subsequent renewal of five years, provides for the provision of complete ground security operations, initially in four international airports and one national airport”, reads the press release issued by company, which underlines that improving airport security will encourage the growth of air traffic by “attracting new international carriers and businesses to the region”.

“The Democratic Republic of the Congo represents a vital addition to our international aviation security services and we believe the country has exciting growth potential – commented Westminster chief executive Peter Fowler – with an area equal to that of Western Europe is, by area, the largest country in sub-Saharan Africa, the second largest in all of Africa and the eleventh largest in the world. It is also the most populous French-speaking country in the world. Air travel is therefore an important and necessary requirement within this vast country. The Democratic Republic of Congo is extremely rich in natural resources and has the potential for significant economic growth. I look forward to Westminster having a long-term presence in the country and playing its part in the growth and safety of the country’s many airports.”
