Revitalizing the Dairy Industry of Sancti Spíritus: Soybeans Bring Back Essential Products

The dairy industry in Sancti Spíritus is making a comeback with the recent entry of soybeans, which has allowed for the production and delivery of essential dairy products for the population. Mainly focusing on natural yogurt, white cheese, and ice cream, these beloved products are once again available on local store shelves.

According to Alexander Pentón Rodríguez, director of collection and production at the Río Zaza Provincial Dairy Products Company, the sufficient quantities of soybeans will enable a constant production of approximately 5,000 liters of yogurt daily for the next 70 days. Efforts are also being made to secure new shipments of raw materials to ensure continuous production.

The restart of dairy production not only benefits consumers but also contributes to the local economy. The sale of dairy products in markets and online platforms not only meets the domestic demand but also generates income that can be reinvested in acquiring necessary inputs for the industrial process.

However, a technological failure has been reported at the ice cream production plant in Sancti Spíritus, causing a delay in deliveries in the provincial capital. Despite this setback, efforts are underway to solve the issue and restore production promptly.

As for other dairy products like fresh cheese, various strategies are being explored for their production and distribution. It is anticipated that with the arrival of spring and the subsequent increase in milk availability, the production of these products can be resumed at the Sancti Spíritus plant.

Stability in the delivery of fluid milk has been observed in the municipalities of Trinidad and Sancti Spíritus, ensuring the supply for the family basket, medical diets, and social consumption.
