An agreement to enhance Venere rice on both domestic and foreign markets. It was signed by the Sardinian Piemontese Sementi Cooperative (Sa.pi.Se.), the founder and holder of the Venere patent based in Vercelli and activities in Oristano and Novara, and Riso Scotti Spa, companies engaged in the rice and derivatives sector.
Venere, black rice
At the center of this far-reaching agreement is Venere, the first aromatic black rice (traceable, based on certified compliance with the Uni En Iso 22005 standards and sustainable) created and patented in 1997 by the Coop’s Research and Development Center, which over the years has built a certified supply chain around this product “which regulates, controls and monitors its cultivation, processing, distribution and marketing through a specification”.

At the base of the agreement between the two groups, an enhancement project which, as clarified by the Sardinian Piedmontese coop, “started in recent days with the visit that Dario Scotti, president and CEO of the Pavia company, carried out in the Oristano seed selection plant. From January 1, 2022, after a transition period that began on July 31, black rice will be sold only in the white and blue packages of Riso Scotti.

The Sardinian Piedmontese coop
