“The commitment of the Italian State Railways in the protection of health and safety at work includes a full involvement of all stakeholders, starting with the workers and their trade union representatives, with whom we will continue along this path, as well as a continuous investment in well-being, on the training and awareness of people “. The CEO of FS, Luigi Ferraris, summarizes the company’s approach to the agreement signed with Inail, which aims to be a model for other agreements between the institute and large industrial groups, in planning accident prevention actions, including through the experimentation of solutions of innovative technological value. The agreement also provides for collaboration on Inail research projects, in the field of robotics, augmented reality through immersive vision, sensors for monitoring work environments, the study of innovative materials for workwear and devices. for the prevention of accidents and occupational diseases, such as collaborative exoskeletons.

It is therefore a commitment that goes beyond the company boundaries of FS and, more generally, wants to make a contribution to raising the safety conditions of workers, especially in a phase in which many construction sites are leaving, driven by the Pnrr. The president of Inail, Franco Bettoni, speaks of “an innovative pilot agreement, intended to serve as a model for further collaborations with other large industrial groups in the country. The goal is to ensure that occupational health and safety are also central in the recovery phase driven by the NRP. After the slowdown caused by the pandemic, in fact, we are witnessing a dramatic resurgence of accidents and deaths at work, which must be tackled together with all the players in the production system with prevention, research and training actions tailored to the current reality “. Inail will promote actions to support companies and large target groups of NRP resources, starting from the planning of the operational phase of investments, explains a note. For the Institute this modality of intervention will become structural and the one with FS is therefore only the first of a series of memoranda of understanding.

The collaboration between Fs and Inail will last 5 years, until the expiry of the NRP which provides for a considerable amount of works in the field of infrastructures and modernization of production processes, towards the new energy, technological and social sustainability frontiers: all this will require multiply the accident prevention initiatives. The agreement was signed in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, Enrico Giovannini, and the Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Andrea Orlando.

Entering into the merits of the protocol, with the involvement of trade unions and workers, the defined areas of collaboration include communication initiatives and promotion of health and safety in the workplace and social sustainability, the design of training programs for all roles companies and personnel involved in the construction of large infrastructural works and the research and experimentation of innovative technological solutions for the improvement of health and safety levels. The design of risk organization and management models is also envisaged for the prevention of accidents and the promotion of organizational well-being, the analysis of information flows regarding accidents at work and occupational diseases in the sectors of interest to the company and the creation of large works, and the study of risk factors to prevent work-related pathologies. The tasks of guiding, planning and monitoring the activities involved in the collaboration are entrusted to a Coordination Committee composed of six contacts, three of which identified by Inail and three from the FS Group.
