From bills to folders, the League does not stop its pressure on the government. The maneuver approved with a painful sprint in the Senate is armored in view of the definitive go-ahead before New Year’s Eve in the House and the parties, in the lead that of Matteo Salvini, already have the next measures on economic measures in their sights. Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Salvini on the phone in the morning as well as congratulating each other, according to sources from the League, shared the need to intervene quickly on the expensive bills.
The government has already earmarked 3.8 billion lire, above all for families but also for businesses, without ruling out new interventions. From the perspective of Palazzo Chigi it is also a geopolitical question, to be addressed on the European tables. For the parties it is above all a home front. “The other emergency alongside Covid is that of light and gas”, underlines Salvini, who will hold a press conference with some local industrialists tomorrow afternoon in Brescia, presented “as a last desperate attempt to avoid the blocking of production in companies from all over Italy due to the impressive growth in energy prices. The government – says the Northern League leader – must find more money to reduce the cost of electricity and gas because it risks being truly a cold and dark winter for many, for too many ».
A scenario in front of which he believes “it is essential to return to investing in clean, safe, latest generation nuclear power to heat the homes of Italians and make businesses work”. It is also easy to expect attempts to arrive at a new scrapping of the folders, requested for weeks by Lega, Forza Italia and M5s, for which the 180-day extension for those of the first quarter of 2022 is not enough. Draghi, however, has already made it clear that he does not have in mind another “a minicondon”.
In any case, taxes will be a hot topic at the beginning of 2022 because, after the reformulation of the personal income tax, it would be necessary to work on the overall reform of the tax system. Among the categories disappointed by the budget law, nurses stand out. The Leu amendment which provided for a specific allowance, in line with that envisaged in the maneuver a year ago on the proposal of the M5s, never implemented because the law provides that it is bound to the trend of the renewal of the contract. Giuseppe Conte reiterated to his followers the need to “immediately obtain these awards for health personnel”. Meanwhile, the Nursind union, in a state of turmoil since November, is on a war footing.
Out of the maneuver also support for discos (“we expect a decisive signal from the government,” says M5s Marco Croatti) and the extension of the layoffs for employees of Air Italy. An amendment was withdrawn due to lack of coverage (50 million for 2022 and 50 for 2023) and transformed into an agenda of FI, M5s, Lega and Pd which commits the government to evaluate it.
