Santanchè, Meloni’s line doesn’t change. Resign only if he goes to trial

Santanchè investigation, Meloni will only want to resign in the event of a trial

Resignation will be requested only if and when there is an indictment. Only then will a step backwards be inevitable for Daniela Santanchè. Corriere della Sera wrote this today, explaining how Giorgia Meloni’s line does not change in light of the closure of another investigation by the Milan Prosecutor’s Office in which the Minister of Tourism is among those under investigation, who the magistrates accuse of forgery in financial statements in relation to the bankruptcy of Visibilia Editore spa. Now there are two events for which he risks being prosecuted. The other is for fraud against the State on Covid funds, in another tranche of investigation.

There would be some doubts within Fratelli d’Italia, claims Corriere della Sera. “In the midst of the electoral campaign for the European elections, the embarrassment on the right is felt. And among the Melonians there are those who do not underestimate the risk of being accused of adopting double standards, condemning the Democratic Party for its problems in Bari and Turin and absolving brothers and sisters of Italy who are in trouble with the law”.

Yet, continues the Corriere, “Santanchè continues to appear calm, convinced that she will not be sent to prosecution, although the minister does not seem to think so”. We further read that “the accusation of bankruptcy contested against Santanchè together with that of false accounting is removed from the main provision” and given that “the companies have not gone bankrupt, so the crime could soon be dismissed”. And the lawyers would be confident that for the rest of the matter a conclusion will be reached that does not jeopardize the minister’s presence in the government.
