Science and technology beat crises, we look to the future with great optimism

Education, Stem disciplines in particular, as well as having more women like Fabiola and her colleagues who can represent the value of these disciplines are very important and that is why we are particularly honored to associate our name with the Science Gateway.

The Science Gateway is an ambitious project that will soon become a reality and will help young people, but also the not so young – people of every generation – to learn about the activities that take place in this place, at CERN, and it is an important prospect because it gives us confidence. in the future that awaits us. In fact, it is essential to know that the work that takes place at CERN – which is very complex, at least for me – has totally tangible effects on our knowledge and, above all, on the evolution of our world.

John Elkann: “Proud to be a partner of CERN, we believe in the importance of knowledge”

A couple of years ago we were here with no idea what was going to happen. At that moment, we looked forward to this milestone and today, despite everything, we are here to lay the first stone. And if we are here it is also thanks to science and technology that have allowed us to manage, resolve and overcome this difficult period. Today’s occasion represents for me a sign of great optimism and I would like to underline that, as a company, like Stellantis, we share the same values as CERN, just as we share a massive dose of optimism for the future.

It is a magnificent example to see the activities that take place here and the way they are conducted, with people from different countries and religions, demonstrating that we can all live together without conflict. This is the same ambition that we cultivate as a company: we too are an entity that brings together many cultures and we are particularly proud to associate our name with this project. I would also like to mention Sergio Marchionne, who left us in 2018, and that the public present here will surely know. Knowing the deep passion he had for science and physics, we are very happy that his name is also associated with this project. I am very, very much looking forward to seeing this completed.
