TURIN. Stellantis accelerates on the path of technological development and signs a joint venture with the Taiwanese giant Foxconn for the development of connected intelligent vehicles. Thus was born Mobile Drive, a company that will focus on providing an intelligent vehicle cabin solution that will revolutionize current design conventions and foster the development of connected intelligent vehicles. The signing of the agreement comes after a memorandum of understanding was initially signed on May 18. Mobile Drive will be owned by Stellantis, the fourth largest automotive group in the world born from the merger of FCA with Psa, and by Fih, a subsidiary of Foxconn, on an equal basis. The management team of the new entity will consist of senior executives from each company.

“The partnership – reads a joint note – has combined the capabilities of Foxconn in the ICT and smart solution field, with the experience of Stellantis in the automotive sector, guaranteeing the growth of Mobile Drive”.

The joint venture company will focus on developing infotainment and telematics solutions, as well as a cloud services platform, which will aim to provide a complete intelligent cabin solution. The software innovations will also include applications based on artificial intelligence, navigation, voice assistance, e-commerce store operations and integration of payment services. The hardware innovations will be linked to the intelligent cockpit and the telematics box.

In the future, the intelligent cabin solution will not only be available to all Stellantis vehicles, but also to third-party vehicle manufacturers, expanding the reach and impact of the Mobile Drive joint venture, which aims to be a global leader in smart cockpit solutions and connected vehicles.
