Stellantis-Renault, John Elkann denies the merger: “It’s not in the plans”
“There is no plan being studied regarding this Stellantis merger operations with other manufacturers”. Many Italian newspapers had relaunched in the last few hours the hypothesis of a union between Renault and Stellantis after the latter’s CEO, Carlos Tavaresgave an interview to Bloomberg in which he spoke about how Chinese competition could push M&A Europa. The market seemed uncertain whether to believe it or not and on the morning of February 5th after the opening of trading Stellantis had started to collect sales losing over 1% in Piazza Affari, while in Paris Renault had started to surge earning 3%, and then return to +1%.
