SuperMax Supermarket Chain Welcomes New President

As of February 5, the SuperMax supermarket chain will have a new president after the appointment of Mario Somoza, as confirmed by Steven C. Lausell, president of the Board of Directors of Supermercados Máximo, Inc., parent company of the conglomerate.

“We are very excited about Mario joining us,” Lausell said. “SuperMax has been a very successful company since its inception in 2002. We understand that, thanks to his vast experience and values, Mario has the credentials to be instrumental in taking SuperMax to the next level of development,” he added.

Before taking office, Somoza presided over the well-known beverage, food and consumer products distributor B. Fernández & Hnos. Also, in the food field, he directed the company Pan Pepín for 15 years.

“I am extremely excited about the challenge of running a retail operation in the SuperMax category,” commented Somoza. “I am eager to apply my experience in the distribution and manufacturing sectors, and my management as a supplier, to enhance the development of the chain,” he continued.

Until Somoza’s appointment, the presidency of SuperMax was occupied by Jorge Hernández, after retiring from Walmart, where he worked for 28 years.

“We are very grateful for the support Jorge gave us and for the important contributions he made during this period,” Lausell said.
