As of September this year, Tesla China has sold more than 300,000 vehicles in 2021. Among them, domestic sales alone have exceeded 200,000 vehicles, and export models have also exceeded 100,000. The Shanghai Gigafactory will be Tesla’s main automobile export center in the future.
The domestically produced Model Y is the second model to be put into production in China. The new car was officially launched during the New Year’s Day this year. The sales volume in January was 1,900, and it quickly increased to 4,600 in February. It exceeded 10,000 in the third month of its launch. After Tesla adjusted its export orders in July, Model Y sold only 22,000 vehicles; in August, Model Y achieved 11,700 vehicles, making it one of the top three in the new energy list. It is worth noting that the increase in sales is attributed to the Model Y standard battery life version, because the standard battery life version priced at 276,000 yuan has been delivered in August, and the Model Y set a good result of 33,000 vehicles in September.
The Tesla Model 3, which has always dominated the list, sold 19,100 units in September. After two months of exclusive export orders, the sales of Tesla Model 3 have returned to normal. On October 8th, Tesla’s official website announced the news about the battery life adjustment of the Model 3 Performance high-performance all-wheel drive version. The price remains unchanged.
