The boys of the Peano high school in Cuneo: “Let’s raise solidarity funds and study this war”

Even the young people of Cuneo are mobilizing for the war in Ukraine. They talk about it at school and among themselves, organize meetings, collect goods and funds to help civilian victims of violence. Yesterday afternoon in the premises of the Peano Pellico high school in Cuneo a charity bank opened, which continues today from 9 to 18. Minimum donation one euro, up for grabs two tablets, a PC, a virtual reality viewer, then clothes, CDs , school books from Latin to philosophy, computer gadgets, sweets. The goal is to exceed two thousand euros: to be donated to Specchio dei Templi. The initiative started with the boys as explained by Tommaso Delfino, 17, fourth year of the Scientific: “We school representatives talked about it with the manager Alessandro Parola: we wanted to resume the initiative we do at Christmas to donate funds to associations of the territory”.

The boys collected the material donated by some school suppliers, they themselves donated clothes, books, CDs and more, for the charity stand. Yesterday, immediately after the opening, a lady donated 5 euros and took the first of two thousand tickets: she won the book «Thoughts for loving each other». Then two students were awarded a CD and sweets. All prizes are displayed in the high school meeting room, with entrance from via Monte Zovetto, open to all.

Delfino: «We talked about the conflict with some prof. They provided us with newspaper articles and videos to frame the war also historically. Trying to analyze what is happening, without being influenced by emotions, by the inevitable dramas in a conflict. I was talking about the war with a friend a little while ago: we know that it is always irrational, history should teach us something to prevent certain mistakes from being repeated, always ».

In the first few days I didn’t know what to think, then the fear came. About what? About what humanity is doing. In class we worked on newspaper articles and saw some news clips to analyze how the conflict is told “. The high school will dedicate the institute assembly to Ukraine: on March 29 and 30, organizing a series of debates.
